of junior development. This Web page is devoted to the promotion of
junior basketball in the Wessex Area. Details of our junior competition

Playing Groups
Click here for a spread sheet with all of the teams who have entered for the Wessex Junior Cup. Based on the number of teams entered this year, the playing age groups have been divided into the following
Boys U14 (4 teams)
Boy U16-U18 (5 teams)*
Girls (4 teams)
* Two teams of U16 are mixed among in this age group.
All players have a valid EB registration numbers. Please remember, 'No numbers, No play'.
Format
Teams in each age group will play each other home and away.
2 points for the winning team
1 Point for the losing side
No point will be awarded if a teams fails to show up or play the game.
In the event of a tie in the League Table, winning records will be used to determine the final table positions.
Top two of each age group will go into the final in May 2010
U16s Boys
There are only two teams entered into the U16s Boys group. After consulted with the teams and the relevant League Committee Members, I have decided to put these two U16s teams into the U18s Boys group to gain further experience.
The competition recognised there is an age/ability difference between the age groups, therefore, I am please to announce that there will be a special Final stage for these two U16s teams on the final day in May 2010.
Game schedule
All games must be arranged and agreed with the Team Manager/Coach.
Each team will need to make sure their number of games are played within the following dates:
- 50% of the group games must be played by 31 January 2010

The remainder of 50% must be played by 31 March 2010

April 2010 can be used as a 'mop up month' to play any rearrange group games if necessary, however, teams are encourage to play these rearrange games before April to avoid any last minute rush.
Game Confirmation
Please note that Home team must call and confirm with the away team on the following:
- Playing venue
- Tip off date, day and time.
- Playing kit colour
- Direction to the venue if necessary
- Venue, Referees and Table Officials
The Home team is to supply the following:

- Match referees
- Table officials
- Match ball
- All basketball table equipment
- Scoring display device, score book and procession arrow
Please make sure all match officials (referees and table) are confirmed by Home team at least 72 hours prior to the game.
Referee Costs
The Match Officials game fees should be split between both teams.
Usual Wessex Referee Fees will be applied. Please refer to Wessex Basketball League Handbook.
0.35p per mile on travelling cost apply to all Match Officials
Maximum of £25 can be claimed by Match Referees
Score Sheet
The Home team is responsible for sending the completed score sheet to the Junior Development Officer, (address can be found in the handbook).
Please ensure the match number and team names are inserted onto the score sheet. No points will be awarded unless the hard copy of the score sheet is received.
League Table
The League table will be sent out each week to all team contacts.
Finals Day
Wessex Basketball Area Committee will confirm the Finals day date and venue.
Competition Entry Fee
The Junior Development Officer is still waiting for a number of Clubs' entry fee (£25 per team). Please forward a cheque (payable to Wessex Basketball League ) to the Junior Development Officer (address in handbook) or transfer the entry fee direct into the Wessex League account.
